English weather can be unpredictable so please come prepared. Stonehenge is normally a little cooler than the city, so an extra layer of clothing can be a good idea, especially in the winter. Don't forget your camera! Our buses do have a rear compartment for storage, but space is limited. First point: don't do a tour involving Windsor , you can do it perfectly easily by train from The Smoke London. Secondly, you will get very little time in Bath on a tour: however, one way to increase your time is to stay on in Bath for the evening don't forget to tell the driver!
The last train back to The Smoke is after , the train station is 10 mins max from the centre. Get cheap tickets in advance here - note that you must catch the train you select, otherwise you pay the walk up price. It was a good deal with the Groupon. I believe we wound up with about 1.
If you've never seen either and don't have a lot of time on your hands, you will get a taste of both. I found it to be more than enough time at Stonehenge, and not enough in Bath, though that's personal preference. We wanted to see the Roman Baths which was not included in the Groupon, so I emailed Premium Tours, found out about when we would be in Bath, and bought advanced tickets with timed entry.
Stonehenge tours and tickets
This worked out perfectly, as we walked right in at our appointed time past a queue of people from our coach who had booked the Roman Baths tickets through Premium Tours. However, this only gave us enough time to grab a quick bite for lunch and rush over to the Roman Baths. There wasn't much time to explore the city, and we very much regretted that we didn't have the chance to do so.
I would definitely not add in Windsor as that will hardly give you a chance to see anything. Next time we will definitely stay overnight in Bath, and I agree that Windsor deserves a day of its own. We just did a tour this week of Stonehenge , Bath and Salisbury Cathedral. Stonehenge had huge lines for the bus which threw the timing off, giving us only an hour in Bath, where I could have spent a couple of days. The price was reasonable but does not include admission to the Roman Baths.
We had 90 minutes at Stonehenge which I thought was enough time, then about 3 hours in Bath - enough time to tour the Roman Baths, grab lunch and see some other outdoor sights. I could have used another hours in Bath. We did Windsor on our own by train and it is a very easy day trip. This topic has been closed to new posts due to inactivity.
